Conventional Fire Alarm System
Large buildings require a central control panel to show staff and the fire brigade the location of a fire within the building if a fire is detected. Conventional alarm systems consist of the panel and a number of circuits (zones) on which fire detectors are located. The circuits are monitored and if any of the detectors trigger, the overall alarm will be raised and the particular zone will display on the panel.
Addressable Fire Alarm System
Rather than being limited to a general zone information such as a conventional fire alarm system, an addressable alarm systemcan identify individual alarms and can therefore pinpoint the location of the fire or of any errors much better and a wider range of devices can be deployed.
Analogue Fire Alarm System
Analogue fire alarm systems are sometimes referred to as intelligent fire alarm systems. There are various kinds of analogue systems available, depending on the type of communication protocol they use. The majority of analogue detectors on the market are not very smart because their outputs only represent the value of detected circumstances. It is up to the control unit to determine whether there is a fire, a fault, or a pre-alarm.
